Fiona Lovell Horning
As an artist and writer, I’m fascinated by the experience of becoming a fully-expressed human. With over three decades of experience in spiritual psychology, mindfulness, coaching, teaching, and parenting, I continue to be intrigued by our capacity for love, our curiosity about the universe at large and our place in it.
Where you can find me
The guiding questions in all my work are:
- What does embracing myself fully, complete with imperfection and unfinished business look like?
- How does kindness, compassion, and love shape my relationships?
- How can I lead a spiritually rewarding life rich in meaning and purpose?
- How can the creative process be a vehicle for a rewarding life?
Exploring these questions:
I explore these questions through essays on art, family, personal development and travel. You can read them in my Substack publication: Eudaimonia Means Human Flourishing.
Third Culture Person
I am a third culture person, having been born in one country and raised in another. I see the world through the eyes of a woman who is a daughter, wife, and mother. Like so many others, I have faced and overcome debilitating depression, lost one marriage and been challenged in another, shepherded children through learning issues, and walked the path of loss and grief. I hope openly sharing my journey will encourage others to be courageously vulnerable.
You can read a few of my favorite pieces here:
“When you give up the unwinnable struggle to do everything, that’s when you can start pouring your finite time and attention into a handful of things that truly count. When you no longer demand perfection from your creative work, your relationships, or anything else, that’s when you’re free to plunge energetically into them. And when you stop making your sanity or self-worth dependent on first reaching a state of control that humans don’t get to experience, you’re able to start feeling sane and enjoying life now, which is the only time it ever is.”

I create and teach mixed-media art, exploring themes of memory, narrative, and social commentary.
