Thoughts on being a writer and an artist

I think I’m a better writer than an artist. But being “better” is probably a function of practice more than anything. I read all the time. I’m looking at words, at language, at ideas a lot. When I write I have a clear idea of how I want to go from A to B.

Getting there is a challenge but there is certainly an intention.

Making art is more of a muddling-around experiment. I think this will change as I become more practiced and focused about my individual expression. Seeing art made by others inspires what I do in my own work.  Reading does the same for my writing.
